What is internet 2? It is a huge network of ultra fast backbones which connects more than 200 universities mainly in US. It is around 10000 times faster than a typical broadband connection. Speeds read 7.21 gigabits per seconds using IPv4 existing technology.
Internet 2 has been possible thanks to big network players like : Cisco, Intel Sun Microsystems. Mind you, Cisco is the most profitable e-company on the planet (not eBay or Amazon as you might think..) !
